75 years of Commodore Ballroom...
Oh Ya!
The Grand old Lady Comm,
I was in the front row the night we broke the floor of the Humidore,
circa about 1978 or was it 79?
The Specials were on stage
and the Police were in the crowd,
well Sting and Andy were.
Pogo dancing was the new rage dance
and we were bouncing better than ever before.
I thought it was an earthquake when,
a foot tall crack broke along the front of the stage
where the springs met the riser from edge to edge.
Drew Burns taped it up as best they could
and we bounced our way into the eighties,
that old floor was never the same and when they replaced it,
Drew auctioned off pieces of it to raise funds for a charity.
Then there was the night I fell down the stairs
to the ladies room in the cellar and knocked over a drag queen...
wooooowhoooooo!
Let love rule!
